“…We said that in repentance and the struggle for purification we aspire to nothing other than the ‘excavation’ of gifts which were bestowed upon us in holy baptism.  All our efforts are an endeavor to retrieve the seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit, which was granted to us at that time.  In holy baptism, all the gifts of the Holy Spirit were given to us.  In this we are no different from even the greatest of saints: we received the same gifts as they did, and no less” (Archimandrite Zacharias, The Hidden Man of the Heart, pp. 124).
